Arròs Montsià successfully closes a new edition of the Healthy Eating Program

Once again, the Montsià Rice Chamber reaffirms its commitment to children's health and food education through the Healthy Eating Program, an educational initiative aimed at 3rd grade primary school students throughout Catalonia. The aim is to promote good eating habits from childhood and raise awareness of the fundamental role of Montsià rice in the Mediterranean diet.

More than 15 editions educating about health, rice and territory

With more than fifteen editions under its belt, this program has become a key tool for raising awareness among children about the importance of healthy eating and environmental conservation, especially in the Ebro Delta, where Montsià rice is grown. The protagonist of this adventure is Monti, a friendly grain of rice who accompanies schoolchildren through videos, activities and educational competitions.

An edition with new features and more participation than ever

The 2025 edition has introduced new content for students and teachers, expanding resources and channels of participation. In addition to the traditional postal delivery, schools have been able to send their essays by email and through the web, which has contributed to a 23% increase in participation compared to the previous year.
These essays include a story and a recipe with rice as the star ingredient, promoting creativity, written expression and knowledge about rice cultivation and the culture of the Delta.

More than 9,300 schools invited to travel to the origin of rice

This year, more than 9,300 schools from all over Catalonia have had the opportunity to participate in this educational project linked to Montsià rice. The program has become a reference for teachers committed to health and the territory, and has been an enriching experience for all participants.

The winners and their prize: an experience in the Ebro Delta

The ten winning students were awarded a family weekend in the Ebro Delta, where they were able to enjoy recreational activities, discover local cuisine and delve deeper into the traditions linked to rice. The schools and tutors also received prizes: grants for school supplies and gastronomic experiences in the area.

Commitment to educational quality

Another of the new features this year has been the implementation of a satisfaction survey aimed at participating schools, with the aim of improving and adapting future editions of the Healthy Eating Program. This effort to listen to the educational community is part of the constant commitment of the Montsià Rice Chamber to quality education.
With initiatives like this, Montsià rice is not only a staple food in our cuisine, but also a powerful educational tool to transmit values, promote health and introduce the area to new generations.
