For years we have been collaborating with these schools by conducting technical talks on the properties of the different varieties of rice that Montsià markets, with the aim that chefs of the future know a product of great tradition and quality.
But does 5 years we wanted to go further and create an activity that encouraged the most active participation of the students themselves.
Hence the ‘Rice Contest for the chefs of the future’, which aims to promote and grant the culinary talent of 6 schools Schools of Hospitality and Tourism of Catalonia, where we teach, located in Barcelona, Benicarló, Cambrils, Girona, Lleida and Tortosa.
What's new this year?
This year the dish chosen to be prepared by the contestants was the rice pudding, extracted from traditional recipe book of Catalan cuisine.
Initially, the students had to prepare a technical file in their schools
with a new vision of this delicious dessert. Later, schools chose of students themselves so they could go to the final of the contest.
How have our chefs of the future surprised us?
The elaborations that had to be carried out in the final were a plate of rice pudding following the traditional recipe and
another of rice for creative cuisine. Students were eligible
for prizes from 100 and € 1,700 in study scholarship concepts.
